Teen Skincare Tips You Should Start Doing Now
Check out the following tips on how to take care of teen skin to keep it healthy and acne-free.
Exfoliate
Include this as a part of your daily skincare routine. A few of its main purposes include removing dead skin cells so that new ones will form and surface. As an advice, you should do it twice a week but with a gentle exfoliator. Do not scrub your face, as it might be irritated. Doing so won’t also help in removing blackheads or acne. Most importantly, you should not overdo with exfoliation.
Makeup removal
Before going to bed, make sure to wash off makeup, and do not sleep with it on. Or else, you might develop pimples and other skin irritations. You should not forget removing make up and washing your face.
If you’re too tired for it, you can use cleansing wipe in taking makeup off and removing dirty, or else, you can have acne breakout.
Oil control
Excessive oil production is one of the causes of pimples. You can keep oil in check by using a salicylic acid cleanser, oil-free primer and specialized tissues or cloths to blot oil.
Skin type
This is probably one of the most important skincare tips for teenagers. You should select and use skincare products only based on your skin type. If you have oily skin, choose non-comedogenic products that can prevent pore clogging.
Acne treatment
You should consult your dermatologist about a good acne treatment product. A basic routine for it also includes washing your face, using a toner and applying an acne gel.
Clean hands
Don’t touch your skin with dirty hands, so keep them clean. It is one of the best ways to protect skin from acne breakouts due to germs and dirt. You should also wash your hands before touching your face. Also, you must clean the surface of your phone if it also touches your skin often.
Cleansing
If you have oily skin in particular, you should cleanse carefully and user a gel or foaming cleanser for daily skin care. You should also cleanse up to twice a day if your skin is too dirty or too oily.
However, you should first be able to remove makeup before cleansing. If you’re active in school and don’t have the time to wash your face, you should bring some facial tissues.
On the other hand, you should use a moisturizer and a milky cleanser if your skin is dry.
Tip: For aftercare after cleansing, you should use a toner so that you can remove any remaining residues of the cleanser. You can apply it on your face or on blackheads and spots. A facial toner helps in eliminating excess oil in the pores, preventing new blackheads and spots from developing.
