    Best Foods for Healthy Eating

The truth is, there is no such thing as worst and best foods – as long as you take them into moderation, you will be just fine. What happens is that you tend to enjoy some of them too much, that you forget to notice that there are still others that offer good nutrition. If you don’t include carbs on your diet, you will get weak. If you eat too much of it, you’ll get fat. If you cut off all fats from your diet, you will lose muscles and energy. But if you have too much of it, you’ll get your arteries clogged, blood pressure will shoot up, and many other things.

The key to overall wellness is eating everything – in moderation. Since you’re into healthy eating lately, here are the foods you need to include on your diet.

    1. Blueberries, raspberries and strawberries. These are the most potent antioxidants to delay aging. They are also rich in fiber for digestion. Strawberries are rich in vitamin C, and are low in both carbs and calories.
    2. Leafy green vegetables. These are low in both carbs and calories, loaded with vitamin K, vitamin E, C, potassium and other nutrients.
    3. Sweet potatoes. Substitute sweet potatoes to French fries. You can also have them baked for any meal. They are high in fiber and lesser in carbohydrates.
    4. Oily fish. Salmon, sardines, mackerel are high in Omega fatty acids and good source of protein. These are good for the heart. You can eat more of these foods instead of pork, lamb, and beef. Salt-water fish are also free from genetically modified organisms (GMO) that are usually fed to poultry animals.
    5. Fruits. Apples are rich in fiber, vitamin C and antioxidants while bananas are source of potassium for muscles and fiber as well. Substitute and apple or banana for unhealthy snacks like crackers and pizza.
    6. Citrus fruits like oranges, pomegranate, and lemon are known for vitamin C, fiber, manganese, and antioxidants – and they taste really good.
    7. Eggs. Eggs are among the most nutritious and widely available foods. Choose organic eggs as much as possible.
    8. Meats are good source of protein and fats. For beef, choose lean beef. For chicken, opt to chicken breast. They are low in fat and calorie count but high in protein. If you’re having lamb for meat, use the grass-fed lamb. They are good source of Omega-3 fatty acids.
    9. Nuts like almonds, macadamia nuts, walnuts, peanuts. Rich vitamin E, antioxidants, magnesium and fiber. They are also high in monounsaturated fats, and other minerals.
    10. Vegetables. Asparagus, broccoli, carrots, and cauliflower are great source of antioxidants vitamin C, K, protein, fiber and carotene, which is a great antioxidant.
    11. Garlic contains allicin, a bioactive compound to boost immune system.

Healthy eating is balanced eating. Make sure that you get all the nutrients you need by eating variety of foods. Remember, your body is composed of complex cells and tissues with different functions. This means they also require different foods for nourishment. Lastly, eat moderately.
